Last up for today is my 2014 family Christmas card! I cranked this baby out in one evening, and it's probably right up in the top two of my favorite cards from over the years.
We had family photos taken in mid November by the amazing Freckled Egg Photography. I'm usually on top of my personal Christmas cards and like to have them finished in November so I can get them in the mail at the beginning of the month. That way I have time to focus on last minute client Christmas cards.
Because our photographer is amazing, she is crazy busy and we weren't able to snag a spot until later in the year, thus we didn't get any digitals back until a week or two into December. As soon as I got them, I sat down and got to work!
At the time I was working on some inspiration for wedding invitations for a client who really loved gold bokeh and confetti. Because of this, I had a ton of fold foil textures saved in Photoshop and I was dying to use them. I had also recently purchased a new calligraphy font that came with swashes that I knew I wanted to use for our cards. I went with a simple and traditional Merry Christmas greeting, and then had some fun creating the gold foil textured confetti border around the text.
I love when cards have a fun geometric pattern on the back, so I used a gray trellis pattern with a small, circular photo of our daughter, Ella. These were definitely rushed, but I love the way they turned out. I'll be admiring this card in it's frame at Christmas time for years to come!
