I actually have spare time today to catch up on blogging about my latest creative ventures! next up is a project close to my heart, my daughter's first birthday party invitations!
Since Ella is a Spring baby, I knew I wanted lots of fresh flowers as the main "decor" at her party. From there it naturally morphed into a boho/woodland theme. If I could do this theme for all of her parties it would be fine by me, as this is totally my style. Sorry Ella, but this was definitely Mommy's party ;)
I pulled my color scheme from the watercolor flowers. Pink is hard to say no to when working on anything related to little girls. I fell in love with the watercolor deer with the flowers and feathers in the antlers, and I decided to incorporate Ella's monogram as well. It's hard to tell in the photographs, but the invitation actually has a subtle watercolor paper texture to it.
I wanted to do something a little extra special for her invitation, so I mounted it on a brown kraft panel card. Since I didn't have a ton of these to mail out, I also decided to address her envelopes in a fun way, using the same calligraphy font that I used on the invitations. I found a great feather stamp at Hobby Lobby and used that with gold metallic ink. I also went a little crazy and created some matching custom postage via Zazzle. Design your own here.
I absolutely love the ways these turned out, and they are definitely one of my favorite creations yet! Happy birthday, sweet Ella :)
